Stabilise: Second Start Centre
A female-centred transitional centre supporting mothers during and after custody.
The Second Start Centre is a rehabilitation and support space for mothers post-release, or on temporary release from prison. Accessed through Stabilise Café and a specialised library which form its welcoming public front, it provides a safe environment to rebuild autonomy, access healthcare and specialist support, and reconnect with their children. Designed as a progressive step after time in a Mother and Baby Unit (MBU), it also supports mothers on temporary release who did not receive a place in an MBU within its secure unit.
