Threads of nostalgia
my project explores clothes as vessels for honouring our past , reamagining memories through fabric, silhoette and print as a means of reconnecting and simultanously growing .Memories hold power there is also power in letting go ,we can use past to empower but not define ones future .My collection explores nostalgia as fluid , distorted and layered through the forms of sheer fabric expressing the simplicity and transition of childhood contrasted with rigid structured design elements that emphasise the contrast of adult life now .As we grow we transition into a complex version of both , my project aims to bring people back to those moments through a contemporary lense rekindle the quiet sense of childlike wonder that continues to live within us. Focusing on women's wear to inspire young women to take up space physically and symbolically. Nostalgia is approached not as simple imitation, but as a process of reinterpretation, i was inspired by do ho suh’s instillation art of his interpretation of nostalgia to which i created my own inspired by my own emotional connections to clothing and experiences reflecting the way fashion preserves my memory , transforming fleeting moments into tangible wearable narritives
