Within this project, I have explored the idea of creating the feeling of movement within pattern design. My main focus was looking at seaweed and how it moves underwater. I was inspired by the way it dances in the water, creating feelings of joy, yet calmness, and wanted to develop work that portrayed this.
I use my drawing and painting skills to create artwork on both small and large scales. I then develop these paintings digitally to create both repeat patterns and placement prints. Additionally, I was able to experiment with colour ways and develop small sample books of these to go along with each design. This led to me developing a collection of scarves inspired by the movement of seaweed. I enjoyed working with the versatility of scarves and exploring how they can be styled within both an interior and a fashion context.
