Nyah Cormie is a mixed media artist who creates large, billboard style pieces which use humour and irreverence to respond to various issues around the current social climate. The materials that she uses are usually associated with vandalism and protest; such as wheatpasting, graffiti mops and fluorescent ink, which draws the industrial energy of the streets of Manchester into her work.

She crafts outlandish balaclavas out of found scrap fabric which blur the lines between cute and grotesque. Her approach to creating is intentionally lo-fi, photographing models wearing her balaclavas under street lamps and incorporating fluorescent colours, playful iconography and surreal quotes. This injects her work with an energy of inclusivity and an appreciation of outsider art.
