Nest: A space for parents to build the courage to ask for help and find community
The project is designed to highlight the everchanging perspective of what a community is. This shift over time requires physical spaces to reflect society's understanding of human connection. Nest is a space that priorities a demographic that needs community most, parents. The misconceptions surrounding parenthood can prevent this demographic from seeking help; Nest aims to build natural connections through the consideration of innovative third spaces.
Throughout my studies at Manchester School of Art I have found a fascination connected to the idea of physical spaces that directly affect the occupant. How one reacts to the space, interacts or creates new meaning outside the design's original intent. I have come to understand it is the response from the occupants that dictates the value of design therefore, there is a great importance for designers to create selflessly. People will always be the driving factor that underpins my design.
