Rosie Pearn- BA (Hons) Illustration with Animation
Growing up in rural South Wales and now living in Manchester, my work draws from personal memory to explore the relationship between place and identity. Working across illustration and ceramics, I use storytelling and autoethnography to reflect lived experience through images and objects rooted in everyday life.
I am interested in the point where the familiar becomes strange or magical. Folk art and handmade traditions influence my practice, particularly their closeness to community and shared experience. Humour also plays an important role in my work, sometimes through political satire or through quieter observations of contemporary life.
Alongside illustration, I make functional ceramic pieces because I value art that can be held, used, and lived with. I want my work to feel accessible and personal, creating comfort through ordinary objects and scenes.
