The Year of The Horse

Often deeply narrative driven, my practice involves blending graphic shapes and intricate patterns with written word and poetry. I spend a lot of time taking mental notes of my immediate environments, which then present as prints, aiming to follow a visual dialogue that transcends the surface. Nostalgic by nature, I embrace a playful, colourful tone within everything I create!

‘The Year of The Horse’ became a depiction of the transition from wintertime to springtime within a year full of change and forward movement. Aiming to celebrate big changes in my life and explore an immense feeling of hope for what comes next, I documented special occasions and day-to-day life through colour, form and pattern; ‘The flowers will bloom soon, and so will I’, became my motto, as days passed me by. Sketchbook drawings were developed into a series of wrapping paper designs that hold relevance to how I portray the months of January, February, March and April!
