The Poetry Pharmacy is a place where everyone is welcome to immerse themselves in a book which has been prescribed by William Sieghart, the pharmacist. Rather than relying on recommendations and genres, your emotions will be heard and a poem, passage or novel will be prescribed. As a society, we are beginning to speak much more openly about our feelings, thoughts and opinions, yet sometimes this can be difficult for everyone to do, and it can feel like you are alone in your way of thinking or your experiences. The Poetry Pharmacy has been designed to make you realise you’re not the only one who feels that way.

“The best moments in reading are when you come across something - a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things - which you had thought special and particular to you. Now here it is, set down by someone who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out and taken yours” - Alan Bennett
