There’s No Place like Home: A look at the traditions of Northern Ireland, its extremities and comedies.

Emily Kane uses various methods to depict the traditions of her Irish heritage. She has taken inspiration from everything in her immediate surroundings, the backdrop of the Dublin Housing Crisis as well as the 12th July Orange Order marches and bonfires. Through collage and textiles she attempts to disengage the bleakness of her home and inject comedy into her work. Emily is constantly inspired by the news; Brexit, the DUP involvement with the British Government, environmental issues. These headlines provide a narrative for the rebellion through art.
