Emma Barnett
BA (Hons) Illustration with Animation
I have always loved the experimentation and processes that comes with art making through analogue techniques. So, my practice has mainly been focused on my favourite mediums, such as ink and pen nibs, pencils, oil pastels and experimenting with hand and digital collage - at times, even making my own typography with this process. I really like the precise, fine-line work which can also add character to my drawings with the use of brush pens, and then adding colour in software.
At present, I have been inspired by researching the effects of human activity on animals, and the relationship we have with the wildlife around us. The aim with my current work is how to educate the public through my illustrations, for example, in the context of museum spaces, such as themed posters or producing my own publication as if it were from a wildlife organisation, tending to specialise my works towards a child audience.
