BA (Hons) Textiles in Practice
Within my practise I utilise colour and shape adapted through printed textile design to portray a sense of attraction. I have used colour therapy and colour theory to explore the potential of printed textiles to be mindful and stimulate positive emotions. My final collection of printed scarf designs is entitled in Incurve and responds to an idea of shape simplicity and the colourful expression of beauty. I believe that a design’s attraction lies within its effortless ability to generate excitement within the viewer through the liveliness of shape and curvature. I specialise in both digital and hand screen printing methods. Flat bed screen print design is a central part of my practise because it allows me to experiment with composition and placement upon the print table. Digital print plays a key role in my design method and I experiment with elements of graphic digital design, but ultimately I keep a sense of materiality and flow through the exploration of shape, colour and repeat pattern.
