My work this year has been fuelled by a fascination with 21st-century internet meme culture. This, along with my love for traditional art history, had brought about a visual hybrid. By taking familiar internet/pop culture personalities and disguising them in an institutional context, I aim to playfully unite the aesthetic tropes of the old masters and the familiar characters we see on a daily basis online. I strive to create situations that challenge the binaries between digital and traditional, between pixel and painting.
