My photography work is based on product photography and the advertising industry, My work is influenced by the advertisements seen in magazines, television and other similar ideas. By displaying the product within my image in different angles and positions it shows the consumers a more detailed description of the product without needing as much text in the advertisement, showing off the product within the photograph to allow the consumers to make an assumption about the product based on the photograph, by showing off the key words in the image that describe the product it draws in the audience. The quality of the image in product photography is the main part of selling the objects shown in the advertisement, the photograph needs to show basic information on the product and its function without overwhelming the consumers with unnecessary descriptions and information, the background and the lighting of the photograph are greatly important in the image as this allows the audience to make connections to the product and what it is used for, having similar objects within the frame builds a scene that can be useful when explaining the function of a product, colours also are a huge part of advertising as the different colours can express different messages across to the audience about the product, complimenting colours such as black or white usually work well with most products, brighter colours usually send a message of happiness or summer and darker colours can make it more earthy and natural when advertising different products. Lighting is also important controlling the intensity of the light can allow different meanings when advertising products showing obvious differences when using softer lighting compared with harsh lighting making the consumer feel that softer lighting is usually more appealing especially if showing cosmetics.
