Les fantômes de Versailles
Driven by the Sublime from Baroque Architecture, my textiles for fashion mix various materials and techniques, following the tradition of French excellence with a British tendency of breaking the set rules. My way of working is a combination of traditional techniques such as hand-embroidery, knitting and screen printing, and modern processes like 3D print and laser cutting. I have a unique approach to making textiles, which is gathering and knitting fabrics to then laser cut and play around with to make interesting compositions, which I add beads to, as well as laser cut knits, 3D printed ornaments and hand-embroideries to tie it all together. My aesthetic is influenced by the Rococo of Versailles, a time and place where fantasies became reality.
