Nook is a playful and supportive library and social space, designed to encourage movement and help mitigate the effects of sedentary lifestyles amongst young proffessionals and the older population in Ancoats.
Young Professionals and the elderly popultation have some issues in common- loneliness and sedentary lifestyles, especially after the Covid Pandemic. Social isolation can have also have serious health consequences. Because of this, the space encourages action and connection to help people enjoy movement in a supportive and fun environment. Physical movement is extremely important for protecting health- helping to prevent many morbidities like heart disease, diabetes, stroke and osteoporosis. Nook is an experiment in creating more opportunities for movement in traditionally sedentary spaces.
