BA (Hons) Illustration with Animation
My interest lies within history and human psychology. I find it fascinating how whilst social norms and society may change over the decades, the emotions of humans remain the same. My work as an illustrator often reflects that, diving deep into stories of years past exploring the human heart. I also have great admiration for fashion and aesthetics throughout the years, which I believe is evident in my portrayals of each time period.
This means that my work leans into the realms of nostalgia, helping those old souls to remember days gone by and for newer generations to become acquainted with those times; I do this via the means of graphic novels and illustrated novels. I like to translate the past for a modern audience, taking heed of past societal issues; I am not blind to the troubles of times past, and so these stories must often take dark turns. There cannot be light without dark.
I work with many mediums, including pencils, inks, watercolours, gouache and digital means to bring these stories to life.
