Lily Sutton
BA (Hons) Textiles in Practice
Childish
The textile industry is one of the most environmentally polluting industries globally, so Lily Sutton has dedicated her textile practice to sustainability. Lily is a fibre artist and sustainable textiles practitioner specialising in knit. She creates playful, bold and tactile textiles, focusing on three-dimensional designs that encourage interaction and learning, using an array of techniques. Lily has spent her final year exploring coral formations, motivated by marine plastic pollution and its harm to sea life, coral life in particular. Coral offers a myriad of playful shapes and textures, Lily has taken these to encourage young people to question the diversity of life and the threats we pose to the planet. Lily takes a playful approach to textiles, combining an interest in sustainable materials with a commitment to developing a strong visual aesthetic.
