Lucia De-Dorado Lutter
BA (Hons) Filmmaking
Over the course of this year, I have created three successful projects. I have refined my skills as a confident Director of Photography, but also, developed new ways of thinking through experimenting with Writing and Directing my own film.
Each project has been an interpersonal exploration with everyone involved. From Loss to Men's Mental Health, Community and Growth. As a team, we believe that by using our creative platforms to help explore and dissect these tough issues, we can somehow make the change we want to see.
'Fighting for Myself' is the project which I'm the proudest of as a creative practitioner. I was able to gain new skills in movement cinematography but we also opened up a new kind of discussion focused on Men's Mental Health which has given those important issues a new place in cinema and gallery spaces. This project was an extreme journey for me as I lost someone to suicide two days before I was due on location to start filming. He and I were very close, which fueled my ambitions for my involvement in this project to be as raw and real by telling it through my cinematography.
As I jump into the professional world of film, I'm going to strive to create projects which explore tough topics in the most real form to me, as I believe this will constantly challenge my filmmaking abilities and will make me better. I couldn't have been proud of my projects if it wasn't for the most brilliant and supportive crew. They have each pushed me to become the filmmaker I have always dreamed of being.
