Shamara's thematic ideas resolved around the idea of memory, the memory of past events whether it maybe memories of her own, family or friends. A style was developed in her work, especially her paintings where she uses plain backgrounds, mostly in colour with sewed fabric onto canvas. She believed that in sewing fabric onto her artworks gives her a sense of reminiscence in the things that have been worn and the atmosphere once experience.
Her artworks were exhibited for the Black Canvas Art Exhibition (2021), Manchester’s Black Artists Network as part as Chorlton Arts Festival (2023)
