The Lighthouse (An Adaptation)
The Lighthouse (An Adaptation) is a one hour stage adaptation of the 2019 film The Lighthouse, written and directed by Robert Eggers. The first draft was created in my second year scripwriting project. I decided to take it forward in my third year, writing a second half and choosing to direct it for my final project. This play is a culmination of my directing and writing skills developed throughout my years of university.
For my professional practice module I decided to create a hardcopy of the play, handmade by me in the Bookbinding Workshop. I individually made 8 copies of the book which was an invaluable insight into the bookbinding process. Binding each book allowed me to feel connected to my work, and bolstered my sense of pride.
After two successful performances of The Lighthouse (An Adaptation) in May, I'm looking forward to what the future holds for me as an emerging writer and director.
