SpellHead
I'm showcasing my dissertation project, SpellHead! In this short exploration puzzle game, you are a headless wizard who's looking for the perfect spell to replace their lack of a dome and need to explore the dungeon to find it.
This project tests the ability for players to understand complex puzzle mechanics with minimal explicit instruction/tutorialisation, instead using level design methodologies and visual clues to imply the direction the player needs to go.
Playtests have been highly positive so far and players feel that the game successfully takes them on a journey from being unfamiliar to familiar with the secrets of the dungeon. Further improvements such as tightening the affordances of each of the game's 3 spells would need to be done to continue into a full project but as a proof of concept I'm really happy with how its been received!
