Vessels of Colour and Memory...
My practice is rooted in conceptual storytelling, using colour and form to explore personal narratives through abstract textile print design and multimedia processes. My degree project focused on the concept of found colour, investigating how colour can be discovered within personal experiences, memories, and spaces.
In my collection, Vessels of Colour and Memory, I used photography to capture significant moments, places, and memories, exploring the colours embedded within them. From these photographs, I developed colour palettes that became the foundation of my final collection.
Guided and narrated by a series of poems, the collection centres around my favourite palette, inspired by the memory of a friend's birthday celebration. This memory became the starting point for the project, leading me to incorporate vase motifs throughout the work. The vase serves as a conceptual vessel, holding and preserving memories of colour, much as memories themselves are held, collected, and revisited over time.
Through this process, I explore the relationship between colour, memory, and storytelling, translating personal experiences into abstract visual narratives that connect emotion, place, and form.
