A Regrettable Coffee

Titled 'A Regrettable Coffee' these works, taken from a larger body, look at a fictional detective as he uncovers a dark mystery that involves himself. The wider piece follows a narrative story portrayed in the form of comic strips, set in a neo-noir world reminiscent of the film-noir look of 1950s black and white movies. A work of fiction with the goal of immersion, the story gradually grows darker as the journey progresses, reaching an unsettling end. Ultimately, A Regrettable Coffee aims to bring the tension of watching thrilling movies or reading mystery novels into the contemporary eyes of art and photography, showing how the strength of both comics and dramatic films can reach into different mediums.

While this project follows my exploration into experimenting with atmospheric portraits, my work typically consists of photographing miniature models and small scenes, bringing to life miniatures from toys and painted models, to creating sets and scenes with diorama pieces. Ultimately, looking at my career and path as a photographer overall, I find myself yearning to tell stories and create environments in each project that enables everyone to immerse themselves in the journey being depicted. In the future I look forward to expanding my reportoire in these worlds of the portrait and the miniature.
