The Museum of Me: My Roots

I'm a jeweller and craftsman who combines vivid colours, robust metals and unique unreserved designs to make bold, contemporary wearables. I specialise in using vitreous enamel, fusing glass to metal to add vibrancy and pattern to my pieces. Interaction is key with my work, creating a conversation between the maker, object and viewer.

The theme that currently drives my work is 'The Museum of Me', where I explore tangible expressions of the self and translate abstracted concepts of identity into outward, material expressions. This materiality can become a non-verbal signifier of our experiences, values and beliefs, and others who recognise meaning through semiotics will connect and resonate with the work. I believe representation is important to feel seen and valued, especially in underrepresented minorities. I use my techniques as tools for storytelling.

Being born and raised in the UK whilst being of a Chinese ethnic heritage has influenced my most recent work, showcasing the feelings of both pride and shame that stem from my identity and lived experiences.
