Fallen Lemon
Under the name Fallen Lemon, I write, perform, and produce songs that inhabit a world of shame, awkward desire, internet obsession, consumer objects, and fleeting moments of transcendence. My work moves between the comic and the spiritual, finding profundity in gym routines, North Face jackets, Instagram reels, brunch plates, gallery openings, and forgotten cultural artefacts. Beneath this imagery runs a persistent fascination with longing, embarrassment, consumption, and modern life.
This year I am showcasing my work so far on two EP projects, Gooner and Julia Fox 2016. Gooner is a Lo-Fi folk pop record exploring indulgence, stupidity, lust, consumption, triviality, and addiction. Written and produced entirely from my bed, this project attempts to metabolise shame and understand weakness through song. Merging the frenzied power of modern mainstream pop with the dark, lo-fi sounds of artists like Grouper, Salem, and Katie Jane Garside, I see my sound as a sonic representation of the process of taking something hidden and embarassing and transmuting it into an optimistic, powerful message. The title reimagines the term "gooner" not as an insult, but as a figure navigating desire and compulsion in pursuit of self-acceptance and liberation from vice.
Julia Fox 2016 is a collection of cinematic electronic compositions inspired by scenes described in Julia Fox's memoir Down the Drain. Responding to her portrayal of a precarious life shaped by excess, instability, and glamour, the project incorporates audio from Fox's old Vine videos and draws on her early Instagram posts as compositional prompts. The resulting work is my attempt to contribute to an aesthetic canon of decaying America.
I plan to complete and self-release these two projects in 2026, and continue to write, perform, and produce music, honing my skills and refining my artistic vision.
