As The Wind Exhales
This project explores solitude through landscapes and how it acts as a comfort, rather than a loneliness. Throughout my life, I have always been drawn to landscapes. It has been my way of stepping away from the noise of everyday life when it becomes overwhelming. To sit in the middle of nowhere, isolated and without another soul for miles, is where I truly feel most comforted and grounded.
The photographs consist of gothic landscapes that hold a heavy atmosphere, acting as an emotional gravity, inviting you to ponder and reflect. My work also touches on the sublime in how the vastness of the landscape quiets the mind and brings a sense of calm. The recurring line of the hill’s apex across the images reinforces the sense of scale within the work, making it seem endless.
I also recorded the wind within these landscapes to create an immersive experience that invites the viewer to feel the work rather than just view it. The title brings together body and land, where the wind’s breath across the environment mirrors a quiet exhale from within. I invite viewers to reconsider solitude not as an emptiness, but instead as a space of comfort and reflection.
