Warded
This is my game created for my third year synoptic project assignment with the main aim of creating a narrative-driven video game that balances gameplay and the story. Ensuring that the narrative responded to the player's actions and that a majority of the story is explored via interactive elements such as diegetic journals, environmental storytelling and a camera mechanic used throughout.
Warded is a first-person horror puzzle experience that follows Jacqueline, who stumbles into an other-worldly version of her flat that represents her struggle with depression and agoraphobia. The player can learn the origin of her depression, her sister's death on Jack's birthday two years prior and based on interactions with the environment and objects, the player can either guide Jack towards the closure of opening her sister's birthday gift and leaving the flat or putting the present away for another year.
The game was created in Unreal Engine 5 using visual scripting (blueprinting), which what i specialize in. To aid in it's creation, assets were sourced from the Fab marketplace. It can take up to 30 minutes to complete with the possibility of achieving one of two endings.
