Apple Crumble

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree: a pressure cooker of dialogue, torment hammering away at the unspoken until a crack forms and a whole dam breaks.

Apple Crumble is a film that follows a relationship between a seemingly normal mother and daughter, but a disparate trait lies between the two which eventually mutates into a physical manifestation. An exploration of the messy, sweet and crumbly nature of human connection.

The inspiration of this piece is from my personal experience with the dessert, I hate the texture and it's flavour, its probably the worst desert to exist. I have a huge book of grimm brothers tales that I've loved reading since I was little (concerning) my favourite stories are Mother Holle and their Cinderella adaptation. I love these stories as they showcase how peoples peronalties can translate to their appearance and I think having these accessable to me has constructed my outlook on the relationships I have had with others, If someones rude I'll see them as a taste/ smell / or colour that I dislike as well as associating nice people with nicer sensorys.

It is a mix of these tales and my outlook on narcissistic people, I thought writing this piece on a mother daughter would be more relatable than a friendship. It is a whirlwind of a film, it was a whirlwind to make and I hope its enjoyable but it now begs the question, Do you prefer the crumble? or the stewed apple?
