When Light Gets Loud
My photographic practice explores the creation of image making, display and narrative through a variety of moving image and print based work. Photography, installation and video. This description means a lot to me and I am really invested how images can shift in their perception when translated between contexts and formats. For my degree show a looped sequence of moving imagery forms the core of my installation with a combination of a recent advert I worked on with a 3 person cast and director from London called “Enno” with a selection of my personal concert videography from events across the UK. Presented on a TV screen my work moves between commercial images and the immediacy of live events creating a continuous rhythm of motion throughout.
On the outside of the screen are some photographic prints from my studio work and event documentation. These surrounding images echo the moving image content, showcasing meaningful snapshots of energy that often go unnoticed by the naked eye. This format creates dialogue between motion and stillness as well as spontaneity and control.
In addition, I contributed images to a collaborative publication piece which is heavily focused on nightlife culture as well as using a high end Phase One camera to display more imagery in All Saints Park. Across all these outputs, my work considers how photographs operate across large scale platforms and audiences.
