Translucent memory

Malena’s practice explores the transition and unpredictability of the tangible and intangible. Using a transformative process with ink, water and a digital microscope to extract forms, the artist navigates these materials to reflect womanhood relating back to her personal experiences, specifically in trauma, C-PTSD and abortion. Grounded in her journey with EDMR therapy and healing, her work mirrors change and fluidity in life to the inks and material’s interactions. She then translates this onto a larger scale using oil paintings that mirror textures and forms split down the middle of the canvas, which are to imprint and reflect how body and mind holds memory.
