Langian

I am currently studying at Manchester School of Art, in my Third year. Through my practice, I aim to explore the relationship between people and their surroundings, often observing the habitats that come with existing in a specific landscape. highlighting banal aspects of everyday life that usually go unnoticed.

Langian is a documentary project on pigeon racing, exploring themes of belonging and a sense of place. The images and words inside relate to the pigeons' innate ability to navigate home to human nature and our desire to belong.

In this project, to create my book, I collaborated with designer Becca Whitening who wrote words that are feautured in my publication. 'It feels bizarre to me that some creatures, like pigeons, carry home inside them as if it’s an organ whilst others spend their whole lives looking for it outside themselves. Home to them moves away from being just a word to an innate feeling.'
