Weight of Borders

Virgilia is a creative director and stylist with an inclination to high fashion visuals deeply informed by Eastern Europe and the post Soviet heritage. Drawing from the region’s distinct cultural and visual sensibilities, her work explores the "cold" psychological nature and fashion sense the eastern community so commonly shares.

Her imagery is defined by muted colour palettes, utilitarian elements, sharp post production andrigid silhouettes, aiming to reflect minimalism through a complex and cinematic lens that createsa sense of controlled intensity. The work she produces is atmospheric, heavy, yet polished, often featuring sculptural forms and textures as a measure to increase contrast and add depth.

Although much of her practice is narrative-driven and culturally reflective, her aim is to both resonate with an audience beyond its direct context and through visual experience alone. The imagery is designed to connect to the public emotionally through visual codes, mood and atmosphere regardless of cultural familiarity.
