Clubland: "We Had Some Reyt Times"
Over the last year, I have been collecting samples of visual, audible, and written word to compile a dedicated archive of the lives and interactions of the patrons of Working Men's Clubs. What started out as a passion project, stemming from my upbringing, and in particular, my grandad's fascination with Breweriana, has become in my eyes a heartfelt dedication to the clubs. What they have stood for and still stand for, and what they mean to the people who stayed with them in trying times. My research stretches as far back as the 1960s, talking to Mona about the time she was nearly escorted home by the police, up to the present day, talking to Claire about the safe environment that the club is for her children.
