Charlie Veitch’s work maps both the tangible and intangible through expanded monochromatic drawings that translate and combine physical interactions with rural spaces and the reconstructed landscapes of her youth. The work questions the history of institutionalised land-mapping and the human longing for stasis, juxtaposed with the restlessness of the everchanging natural world. Dark expanses are pushed and pressed to reveal line and form. Emerging are traces which blend the past and present, embracing the viewer within the disorientating world of the constructed landscape.
