Joseph Bubb is a Welsh artist filmmaker that focuses on the unconventional genre of film. His inspirations come from the works of Derek Jarman and Alan Clarke as they show that contemplative techniques can strongly convey individuality. He relies on analogue methods to put his viewers into a transcendent state that allows them to sense a similarity between himself and the occurrences on the screen.

Pure. (except it's not)

His major film, Pure. (except it’s not), utilizes the Super 8 format, and Bradley Cartmell's avant-garde sound design, to explore queer struggle and its presence within the Welsh landscape's heteronormativity.

My Motherland

With a 16mm film emulation, Joseph's cinematography coincides with Niamh Pettitt's personal multi-screen piece, My Motherland, that delves into her childhood trauma through a grounded performance.
