Emma Currell BA (Hons) Photography
Emma Currell is a photographer and visual artist. Her practice explores the notion of physical interactions with invisible psychological states. She investigates indexical traces, where pieces of a person become embedded within an object or material as a connection between the two is formed, emotionally.
This body of work 'You Are A Part of Me' is a visual description of a person's journey of grief. There is a material nature to death despite its lack of physicality, resulting in objects surrounding us becoming significant after the loss of a loved one; intimate relationships are formed with previously inanimate objects. This work explores the intertwining relationship between materality and mortality by harnessing the physical features of an object and person who share an emotional bond and combining these within the realms of an image.
