Anhar Ali BA (Hons) Fine Art
My area of interest is based on the human body through history and the present day. My main question i refer to my work is 'What is a body?' What it means to be represented as masculine or feminine, re-defining social identities has valuable meanings as to how we are portrayed. Masculinity and femininity are key factors towards the role of gender and the way the body is treated through distortion and trauma. How we are viewed through these categories affects how our bodies intertwine and transform. How does the body acquire this statement? How does the body in an art format relate to imagery of the body produced within mass culture? There is something deeply empowering about being a man or woman in terms of fitting into society and the relations between race and sexuality.
