Daisy Jones BA (Hons) Illustration with Animation
Both my illustrative work and textile crafts are focused around storytelling: I work with lots of detail, using tonal contrasts and interesting textures, and within my more experimental textile work I focus on using natural, bold shapes and colours.
The two elements of my practice are both heavily inspired by folklore- often exploring the connections these stories have to landscapes and enviroments, and the relevence these stories still culturally hold. I explore the implict themes and messages through small details and symbols hidden within my images.
These images are a selection taken from a project based around the old, half forgotten gods of Dartmoor, a project that provides a commentary on environmental destruction through a cautionary tale, and a wall hanging and bag I recently created.
