Awkwardness, embarrassment and fear are elements that keep the reality of aging and illness and ultimately death as almost taboo. They force us to face the reality of our own mortality.

Examining the thoughts, feelings and practicalities surrounding the inevitable can bring about an acceptance and peace, for ourselves and those around us.

Nana, an exploration into the body, mortality, deterioration and fragility, although upsetting and chaotic at times, has offered moments of real human connection, of humour and an appreciation of the trivial and mundane. Suffering does not eliminate all joy and for now my nana lives on.
