Rachel May BA (Hons) Textiles in Practice
From the countryside in Bolton, I have always been inspired by nature as I have always gone on long walks around Rivington since I was a child, and I believe this is where my passion for drawing began. We also went on many trips to the art gallery as well as the museum and I would always get stuck in when they had arts and crafts days. Drawing, painting, and any form of mixed media became a passion of mine and I have thoroughly enjoyed being able to further my skills by studying a BA in Textiles, to which I decided to specialise in print. I have specifically enjoyed the endless possibilities with taking my designs digital and have focused on this for the most part of my years. I feel I’m not limited to colour and will experiment any idea and colour palette to create something truly unique to me. With my designs I like to have the focus on hand drawn elements, and then use these to create even more abstract designs and to really push the boundaries of what one simple motif can create. I thrive on detail and will indulge hour creating intricate hand drawings for my designs, but I also enjoy the process of creating interesting abstract repeats and the feeling of bringing a whole collection together.
