Simple Pleasures: An exploration into the life of ‘partying at home’. Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, we have all had to adapt to a new way of life, which has heightened our appreciation for the smaller things in our everyday lives, which we may have taken for granted before. One of these includes the hospitality industry, which has been predominantly closed throughout the pandemic. This has encouraged individuals to be creative, inspiring a surge of homemade bars and converted garages into entertainment spaces.
A ‘Friday night’ is a constructed ‘Simple Pleasure’, which society uses as a framework for the week, even when people are working from home. This creates the joy of getting dressed up with nowhere to go.
Influences throughout this project include: the 70’s dance scene in Southern England from Studio 54 and The Goldmine, Canvey Island and the sitcom ‘Absolutely Fabulous”.
