Josephine Hinton BA (Hons) Textiles in Practice

Josephine Hinton

My practice focuses primarily on weaving one off bespoke fabrics created for statement fashion and couture collections, incorporating unconventional materials such as metal, paper and recycled plastic into my woven work with the aim to push the idea of what can be perceived as a textile, whilst reflecting my own ideologies around sustainability. My main influence derives from my keen interest in historical figures and events, translating historical themes into a modern context, such as creating wearable chainmail embellishments inspired by Joan of Arc. My work is driven by a highly ethical and environmentally conscious mind set, with the aim to create work that goes against the conventional method of mass production.
