Oscar Ingham BA (Hons) Graphic Design
I’m always keen to make my work dance; using motion as a means to add a new level of personality to an idea. Kinetic or static, I try to make my design work tell a story. There’s always a different way to communicate an idea, and I love the process of finding new ways to paint the same picture. No designer is an island and I believe the best work is achieved collaboratively.
During my final year, I had the designed the branding for the Graphic Design department’s degree show; Brave New Normal. The brand is a reaction to the dystopic year we’ve experienced, placing students at the centre of the new world we’re entering into. Using ‘kitsch’ stickers contrasted with a digital font intends to symbolise the physical and virtual aspects of the show.
Since its launch, the brand has grown and been re-interpreted by the students on the course. After such a challenging end to our degree, I’ve found it touching to see everyone pull together and build a sense of community despite all the limitations we’ve faced.
